Yes, you read it right. :)
The Daytona 500 just isn't a Daytona 500 without a rockin' Starting Lineup slideshow. Inspired in no small part by Ken Squier's excellent Daytona 500 broadcasts on CBS, I present to you my performance of what SHOULD come right after the command to start engines in this Sunday's 50th Annual Great American Race.
I have also created this video to walk the walk I've been talking for years. It is my current ambition to one day become a professional commentator for NASCAR racing and I'm eager to take the first step toward that goal. As such, I've treated this presentation as an audition. If you are currently viewing this video from FOX, ESPN, TNT or the SPEED channel, I hope this encourages you to contact me at brockbeard@gmail.com.
1988 Daytona 500 starting lineup image posted by user SimRacin46 at the Historical Stock Car Racing Forum and photoshopped by me. Images collected through Google searches and captured in various recordings. The song is "Las Vegas" from Hans Zimmer's "Rain Man" score, the very music CBS used in 1990-1991 for those lineups.
Be sure to visit my website, "Karaoke For NASCAR Fans," at http://nascarpoetry.blogspot.com for weekly NASCAR Sprint Cup race reviews and commentary put to lyrics of popular songs. Thank you for viewing.

Here's the last 5 laps of the 2008 Aaron's 499. On the final lap, Michael McDowell spins in the tri-oval, but that was not the caution. The Big One happens again turn two with more cars crashing include David Stremme, Joe Nemechek, Kasey Kahne, Elliott Sadler, Regan Smith, Jimmie Johnson, AJ Allmendinger, David Reutimann, and Kevin Harvick. The race was over at that point, Kyle Busch is the winner.

Allmendinger (#42) gets lose under the #1 car of JJ Yeley and spins into Keslowski (brown #88 car), causing Keslowski to pound the wall head on. Keslowski caught some sick air and landed on the wall and on Allmendinger's car! Keslowski has been airlifted to a local hospital for further evaluation. He appeared to be favoring his left leg, did not even put any weight on it

By popular demand, I now present my new starting lineup video for this weekend's race at California Speedway. Sure, the field's set by points and we have no idea who's got what yet, but that won't keep me from churning out another of these!
I will apologize in advance that not all of the paint schemes are up-to-date. Due to this rained-out Friday practice and quals and the resulting dearth of pictures online of the nearly 20 new schemes debuting this week, I had to use several of the Daytona photos. Hopefully future videos will be more accurate.
Also, to fill in some of the blanks, I took a few photos from Jayski's Silly Season Site at www.jayski.com and RacingOne.com. Just wanted to make sure they got credit.
In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this video, put to the Tomoyasu Hotei's song "Battle Without Honor or Humanity" from the first volume of "Kill Bill."
