I apologize for the low quality, my capture card was not agreeing with me back when I recorded this. Juan Pablo Montoya gets loose at the start of the Nextel Open and gets into David Gilliland, triggering a multi-car wreck that took out Joe Nemechek, Jon Wood, Paul Menard, A.J. Allmendinger, and Scott Riggs. The interviews with Juan Pablo Montoya and Paul Menard are included.

THIS VIDEO HAS BEEN HIDDEN BY GOOGLE! It was removed from top search results at google.com A message from the guy who invented YouTube, the brand that simplified video for the web. He is unpaid his 1%. I'd like to talk about how YouTube came to be. I am the conceiver of this service; it was engineered by Chad, Steve, Jawed and countless others who, over the years, invested in web video platforms for commercial purposes and academic interests. Chad had connections and I did not have the money to make this service a reality. Although I'd like it if Chad acknowledged me, and sent me 1%, the service and its community is the best part. In 1999, I created a website mock-up to present to a Denver investor who bought the "Synthetic Interview" product from a company called Grand Illusion Studios. I am the UI person who developed the main YouTube video screen, and consulted on the optimization of uploaded video. This basic functionality is core to the YouTube experience. I am uncompensated for this important suggestion of brand and concept. Randy Pausch had recently teamed up with Don Marinelli to start the Entertainment Technology Center. In late 1998, I had a vision for the future of television called YouTube. It was later confirmed by some of the last statements made by John Ritter, on the Tonight Show (or perhaps it was David Letterman), he made the comment that the young had been seen with a proliferation of DV cams. "The young all have them now: it's about you, not me." This was the confirmation I needed that I had a great idea. John died shortly after that, and I stopped working on YouTube. I tried to convince a millionaire friend to help me start the company, but in his busy life he ignored my requests and I never got a chance to fully explain my hopes. He brushed the idea off, acting like I was crazy. The original mock-ups for this service and the brand naming "YouTube" were ideas done at Grand Illusion Studios, Inc. while I worked on the Synthetic Interview project at Carnegie Mellon University. I designed the original "screen on left, functionality on right and below" for a training website and the synthetic interview technology was sold to a Denver company. Below the video for Synthetic Interview ("Synterview") http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~sms/Enterprise.pdf there was a text field for entering questions to be used as keywords in a search algorithm that was to create a conversational feel to the related video. One day in 2004 I called PayPal for the 12085th time about some fraud/phishing issues. I had been trying to get a job, unsuccessfully, at Google since 2000. If you look back at the year I contacted Chad, my entire yearly income was less than 00. I was sick of waiting for YouTube. I couldn't find the money to finance it myself. I asked to speak to "someone at corporate: the guy who made the logo" and they gave me to Chad Hurley and I told him my idea, the same idea which was part of Grand Illusion Studios. I told him I didn't want to be sued for the rest of my life. I loved the idea but my brain was better spent on more pressing issues like medical research, and my work in non-profits, as well as my own personal art. I felt it was in part superficial, but I thought people would like it. I was so busy trying to get my degree that I let go of one of the greatest ideas I've had. I had no idea if it would work, but I had a hunch it would be popular. I told him not to settle and to sell it to Google for .1B. This assertion helped keep Chad going despite his nervousness about it. Chad then solicited the help of his friends to develop the technology. I also encouraged him to ask Peter Thiel for money -- Peter is also a member of one of the organizations to which I contribute, the Immortality Institute. In 2007, for the first time in my life, I talked to Sergey Brin on the phone after Google bought YouTube and explained to him that it was what I had wanted to do while using my 20% at Google. He asked the question "What would you use the 20% for now?" I said -- probably nothing! This was the good idea I had to reinvent Google Video. I suggested he continues to merge the technologies, and I made statements like "you are automating Hollywood, it would be a good thing to figure out a way to get them deals, let them set prices, make money for your users, just like in traditional television." I also told him about my joke "Virgle" -- the "what-if" Google and Virgin merged on the "space thing". Chad obscures the idea's original thinker. Sucks.

Juan Pablo Montoya got the 2007 Nextel Open off to a messy start, causing a multi-car pileup off of turn 2. Montoya started 5th and took Dave Blaney's spot on the start on a three-wide move. The #42 had too much momentum and drifted up the race track. A multi-car pileup ensued. "I had a really good start under Blaney. As soon as a I went to pick up the gas, it spun out," Montoya said. The crash took out David Gilliland, Joe Nemechek, Paul Menard, Jon Wood, A.J. Allemendinger and Scott Riggs. Video: SPEED Channel Audio: Clutch "10001110101" Compilation: NascarCrash
